Does it sound like every other song they’ve ever released?

I guess not.
I do still appreciate this album, and normally I don't have too big of an issue with bands who have a Thing and stick with it, but these guys are definitely pushing it for me at this point. It's cool they've found a bigger audience but I feel like they're part of an ongoing trend of artists that get big streaming/TikTok numbers by watering down more traditionally interesting styles to fairly basic "vibey" stuff. At the time this album had enough novelty to pull it off, but at this point I find it hard to care. I doubt the album will be actively bad, I mean at the surface level they work in the intersection of several of my absolute favorite genres and they do consistently pull off the "vibe" and even have decent enough songwriting chops, so I'll certainly give the album a few fair listens, but the single is leading me to expect more of the same and not in a good way.

They have only released two songs Boney. The awesome one that they put on their first album 10 times in a row and the less good one they put on their second album 9 times.
This is the first one again.
And it's still as good as ever.

'Kiss It Off Me' might be my favourite song of theirs now though
Underrated second!

Yeah never sure how guilty a pleasure this is to 5 but it is what it is, whenever a song off this comes up I still enjoy it
Be interesting if he can mix up the formula with the third album out this year, got to be honest I thought they might just wrap it up after two albums as they've done this sound to death now

This is viiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiibes. Lovely stuff
it's funny reading some of the previous comments because I was just thinking about this sounds (so far) like it's being almost completely carried by the feels, but sometimes music be like that don't it?

There's craft there but I guess the main thing is the vibe

True. Vibes cannot sustain a man alone, yet sometimes an 80/20 split is fine (admittedly arbitrary %s here).

Me too. But honestly, it would be nice to see a little risk or two on the new LP.

okay, this low-key peaked on spin numero uno. Solid vibes tho for sure. A little light on sustenance
I am rather curious to see if my perspective on earlier Beach House has changed at all as it did admittedly conjure up such memories (credit to the RYMer who generated a mild chuckle for the 'Chat GPT Beach House' putdown, lol)

@Doof "Yeah never sure how guilty a pleasure this is to 5 but it is what it is, whenever a song off this comes up I still enjoy it"
It's a proud 5
Second album being weaker as it is has also grown on me with time. Vibes are sweet but instrumentation a bit lacking and weak lyrics. And there's a song called hentai

The lyrics are what they are, as they seem to be the inner thoughts of mostly promiscuous 'young adults' - I maintain they suit the songs and the vibes.
|

I think hentai is a perfect name for that song

Within the simplicity I found some of the lyrics in this album to be pretty clever. There's a beauty in mundane things too
