This review is beautiful and I'm so hyped. Great work, Row. And yes, Girl Harbor on Hope is 100% the best thing to come out of that solidly-okay album.
My first MO album is Simple Math and I still haven't listened to Color Spectrum despite Acts IV and V being so good I finally forgive Casey for killing TREOS. So I guess I should catch up on those on my next long flight.

Bumped up my score for this, damn you Rowan. "Lead, SD" is really hitting home for me right now with the line "This is temporary, I just heard I'm gonna be a dad"- just had a few weeks where it was looking like I was going to become a father, but found out yesterday that it's not happening. The song just crushes me right now in ways I can't express. Thank God for Andy Hull, he always connects with me.

Please don't let me down with all this staff hype.

It's almost impossible for it to live up to the bar we've set (every staffer besides one has given it over a 4), but I do think if people are still used to Cope that this will catch them offguard in a very good way. It's probably on par with METN or Virgin for me, Simple Math remains in a class of its own though.

Hmm. Couple more days. Worried about it for some reason. Only thought the first single was real good, the second dragged on and the third didn't even leave an impression on me. Only heard each of them twice.

"but found out yesterday that it's not happening"
So sorry to hear, Sowing. =/
"while i understand the disdain for it, i still really like Cope. : ("
it has some really good moments (Top Notch, Every Stone), it's just pretty monotonous. Also weirdly devoid of ballads when MO is really, really good at those -- if they had included After the Scripture on the full album instead of as a bonus track it would have improved things significantly

Did the singer lose his wife or something or got divorced. seems like the songs (some) are about him leaving her/her leaving him.

his lyrics have always centered around such topics; not sure though tbh as far as I'm aware he's still married
I vaguely recall an article about the song 'pale black eye' in which he confided that a lot of his music contains confessions about his marriage that he otherwise wouldn't verbalize..."god damn I'm tired of lying -- I wish I loved you like I used to."
