Just learned the other day that this band was on Battle For Ozzfest on MTV back in like 2008 or so. They didn't make the cut

I like it too, but this one's got songs like Juno, King or Beneath My Skin/Mirror Image, wich are massive and probably better than any other song on that record.

Well written, I'll definitely check this out. Daniel Tompkins has never really stood out to me much. Ashe is a way better vocalist and fit the bands style better, but this record might still rule

Production here is their best - less sharp than on Polaris and deeper, punchier than on Altered State. Album is dense, much more than both predeccessors. Here and there are catchy vocal hooks and memorable compositional elements (though the slow riffs are not as diverse and the vocal melodies develop not as naturally as one would expect).
Ambience is on point, I'm not seeing the reviewer's claim. The case of "evolve or die" is pretentiously forced - this is not fucking Breaking Benjamin, this is quality music, these are proficient musicians developing their distinctive style but not overusing the formula. Honestly I hate these omnipresent comparisons to Altered State and all the hail to it, as it was overwritten and overproduced, it could've been 1,5 times shorter and nothing would've been wrong (though I agree that compositional approach there song-wise was a bit more logical and consistent than here).
Their debut, One, though, still feels like their most inspired work.

"I'm not sure if there were bands doing what they did before them, only thing that comes to mind is Textures"

I just don't know bands from that period that combined the 'shuggah with the ambient elements. I must say that I never looked for them, so enlighten me if you want

Anyone got the binaural mix version of the album? Also I have the FLAC version digitally and there seems to be some clipping on Juno at 2:04 right as it goes into the groovy part, AS still has their best production to date.

After a few listens I think I'm loving Beneath the Skin / Mirror Image the most, especially as one 11 minute song, really gives me those ominous One vibes. That intro heavy riff is dark as fuck and it flows so well, it's just everything good about TesseracT. Orbital needs to be longer goddamn it but it works really well as alarm. Could've been such an amazing song if they let it grow - really getting some Jon Hopkins vibes from that one.

First off. holy fuck smile. I really liked the single, but fucking fuck this version is sick.

Juno and Skin / Mirror are bangers too.

Maybe this just isn't my cup of tea, but I find this to be pretty much perfectly acceptable. It's not bad, per se, and I found myself grooving at a few moments, but I don't think I'll really return to it.

I like this.

I always found One and Altered State overrated and this offers quite a few things to make up for what I missed in those records.
