huge improvement over the last album. still doesn't touch anything they released before their split, but it's better than I'd expect an At the Gates album to be in 2018, and minus Anders Björler no less.

bumping this a bit on second listen. I still find the vocals to be very stiff and confusing though.

yeah, curious how interesting it gets towards the end. I also praise the fact this is pretty much non-formulaic.

Man I’d like to see them live, does anyone know if they still play their pre-Terminal stuff?

I think they still play a few songs from Fear and Red, Jester. They did at least when I saw them back in 2011.

It definitely rewards multiple listens, there's a lot of details and layers to dig up. for example, Daggers literally has piano, cello, some sort of flute/oboe, tremolos for days, clean/distorted guitars, acoustic guitars, a sweet bass lick etc.

This album has grown on me a bit. It took several listens to really appreciate the atmosphere on it and shake any preconceived judgements I had towards it, but in the end I feel like they did a good job crafting a well rounded and honest melodic death metal record.

Yeah. It's definitely a grower. Glad some people are giving it a chance instead of writing it off after just a listen or two.

They’re still doing it better than most modern melodic death metal bands

The solos these guys play have always been so underrated, In Nameless Sleep is a good show of their skill

Good first impression, there's definitely enough interesting things happening here to warrant further inspection.
