I have 2 albums rated higher than this in 2018, and 2 rated equally, but this is probably my AOTY right now. But I don't want to 5 this just to have it make numerical sense to be higher than shrine. Dilemma...

Even if I don’t end up loving this I’ll make a point to seek out his past work.

I’ve nothing but great things to say about this, I think it’s a perfection of its sound

Only thing holding this back from a 4.5 is I need to test it on a walk with headphones I’m thinking

I've only listened to this on work commutes so far, and it really didn't do anything for me. But I'm gonna sit down somewhere quiet and just listen soon, maybe I'll appreciate it more then

doof - I might compare it to cigarettes after sex with the way it succeeds in a uniform sound from start to finish. I’ve enjoyed it best whilst commuting too

Now that’s what I call the commuters lament volume 22

anatelier - yes, for some reason I'm really enjoying album that are confident enough to keep a uniform sound throughout, if it's done well it's a selling point not a weakness. On a site where 'progressive' styles are lauded it is maybe seen as a basic or boring choice but I totally disagree in that reasoning.

zak - new Evil Blizzard on Spotify today ;D

Taking this for a walk might be exactly what I need.

Boney gonna walk to a secluded section of woodland, dig a nice big hole and take a shotgun to this thing

Took the walk... Still not totally convinced but there are some strong moments and those moments I like enough to give it another few spins before retiring it.

I also gotta say zak had a point on the last page, I’m not sure it’s accurate to call this a folk album. Zak’s “ambient rural space rock” is an apt descriptor.

Ello boney. Them ‘strong’ moments eek themselves into the whole album given time. It’s a bloody gem this one.

its funny you mention amen dunes, my buddy showed me him and I told him it sounded like a post-punkish Ben Howard.

Likes this way more, but still dig that album.

Have to check this out. Black Flies is one of the best songs in the genre imo

Listened to a bit of this album on my way home; never heard of the dude, I was just curious considering how much people like him on here.

I keep thinking I'm listening to some long-lost Bowie project. But after a realllllly long shitty day, listening to this was definitely the highlight of my day. Fuck this album rules.
