I consider The Fragile his best work since I got the definitive one on vinyl, the depth of field on that album is astounding. having said that, very fair take

"I genuinely believe this is Trent's best work since The Downward Spiral. It's so raw, noisy, and aggressive without much of the childish angst that dominated his earlier work. Consider also that at approximately 30 minutes of run time, its all fire and no filler. And the inclusion of saxophones on "Play the Goddamned Part" and "God Break Down the Door"? Genius."

Yes.

Trent has had various scattered moments of brilliance ever since the turn of the century, but not since The Fragile (Year Zero if you're feeling real lenient) has he had a collective moment of such excellent material. The hype behind this record is well deserved and understood, even if it doesn't touch prime NIN in any way. It's a wonderful step forward after a decade of stuff that was widely varied in quality.

These three EP's have been the best thing he's done since the Fragile.

"With all the "Time is running out" repetition, you'd think Over and Out is a Muse cover."

Funnily enough, Dominic Howard from Muse just saw them live a couple of days ago

I wouldn't regard it as his best since Downward Spiral. Out of the EP's, I enjoyed Not the Actual Events more than its sequels. This is my second favorite due to its creativity and grit, but I feel Not the... has more substance. Year Zero was probably Trent's most original concept since Fragile. It has obvious problems, but people come to forgive those for the sake of its narrative. I guess the hype is well deserved for this album. It's really good, but something about it holds me back.

add violence is the best from the three imo.

the last tracks from each album in the trilogy are funnily enough my favourites; burning bright, the bg world and over and out

Year Zero packs a lot of punch. It's hard not to enjoy it.

add violence was a complete snore for me. NTAE was definitely a step up from hesitation marks, and bad witch is at least as good as YZ

Absolutely blown away by this, this is Trent's best work in what, 10 years at least? Could go back even further if it continues to grow in more listens.

It sounds almost space noir-like, like it would be a soundtrack to a Blade Runner spinoff.

The last 3 releases together sound/feel like the soundtrack to a horror/action/mystery movie.
