Even my ex-girlfriend agreed that gorillaz became a piece of shit since plastic beach (I remember clearly once watching the doncamatic video together, and her saying "what is this piece of shit?, this is not gorillaz!")

The fact that you don't use an Oxford comma in your second paragraph hurts my heart.

Pretty okay summer album.

The album cover had me hoping it would have had more of an acoustic approach, akin to the song '5/4' from their debut

Half the magic of Gorillaz when I first got into them was not knowing who the people behind the scenes actually were, aside from some names in the liner notes. All I saw in my head when listening to the music was the characters themselves, and I feel like ever since that illusion was broken (quite a few years ago by this point, lol) my listening experiences with them have never been nearly as fun (at least with most stuff post-phase 1.) For all I know people getting into the band right now are having just as strong of experiences w/ this new stuff as I had with the old

Great review Rowan, can tell you're a very big fan haha

Very nice that Gorillaz finally made something great after The Fall and Humanz, which both were ok but lacked inspiration and enough ideas for full albums imo.

I haven't heard Sleeping Powder yet, don't recall it being on any of their albums? It one of their many b-sides?

It was a sweet little surprise song they put out shortly after Humanz

Actually the fall is the only descent album I can hear of them after demon days, but that's just me

PB is good if a little overblown

Humanz is overblown with a handful of good tracks

Fall is super hit & miss, but i can appreciate the overriding "aesthetic" which i suppose is a similar thing to what i'd say of this album, even if I do like this considerably more

'Can Damon stop releasing gorillaz albums and start focusing on blur?, I loved their first 2 albums, but I grew annoyed of his obsession with gorillaz."

I prefer Gorillaz tbh

I've been listening to this a few times whenever I'm on the road and I'm liking it so far. The only things I can say is I wish One Percent was slightly longer (it's good but ends too quickly I feel) and I'm still not a big fan of Jamie Principle's contributions (although anything's better than Sex Murder Party). Everything else is all I could ever want after Humanz.

Just started listening to this. So far so good, even if nothing stands out.

Also, when I was buying this they had all the other albums on vinyl except Demon Days. Why in blue hell is this one so hard to find on vinyl? I want answers, dammit!!

To answer that question:

it was initially reissued by Vinyl Me, Please for their monthly subscription back in April 2017

this reissue ended up going for solid money because the demand was exceptionally higher than what was originally supplied

most likely in reaction to said demand, a standard reissue came out earlier this year and is still in print. If you can't find it, it is because: it is out of stock, in process of being restocked, or better yet, you are better off personally ordering it yourself to guarantee yourself a copy.

It can be a bitch, but there are definitely upsides to such a ~difficult~ life
