I'll give Foxing credit for changing their sound with every album they release actually. Heck I remember listening to "the old songs" on youtube and I was like whoah before The Albatross they were a punk band. It does require effort though with each release though. I remember really liking a few songs on here and not much else but buying it anyways because I just wanted some more Foxing. This is a good album. I heard one single from their latest album and it just did nothing for me, but I put little effort into trying to get into it. The songs that I first gravitated towards were the one straight forward ones like Bastardizer, Five Cups (it's long but I just love the mood) Won't Drown, I really like Lambert. Grand Paradise was a little offputting it at first but I like it and where it goes. I probably should have played this album again before I posted this comment but this isn't a review and just some thoughts I am putting out there.

I just said it was off-putting at first because I had to get used to the new direction they were taking. I should have taken more time to think out that comment better because that one is just a stream of thought rambling of sorts, but Albatross will probably always be my favorite with Dealer only having a couple duds and a lot of great music too. Not sure honestly if I'd rate Dealer better or not than this one as I should have at least played NMG before writing that comment.

This is a 5 by universal law. Change your rating or face the might of Orb.

I played all their albums today at work except for the new one and yeah I really do like this one. I could bump it up to a 4 but I couldn't go 5 yet. I just put a 3.5 because it was at least that and I wanted to rate and comment. That 'Crown Candy' song is terrible though. When that song came around, I remembered I would actually skip that one and just did again because I was having a good time haha it's just awful. 'Won't Drown' is incredible though and I freaking love 'Lambert.' That last song is one I more recently realized that I just adore.

Their newest album is also dope!

newest album is them doing early MGMT and it works far better than it should imo, but I do think this album is better. This one just has some crazy emotion and mood. Bastardizer, Nearer My God, and Lich Prince absolutely destroy me

Yeah this is better but I still like Draw Down the Moon more than Dealer and Albatross

Moving away from Midwest emo was the best thing this band could’ve done, and I like midwest emo

I agree, I'm glad they were more ambitious than that

Man, this album is terrible.

I'm fine with them constantly trying new things I love the Albatross, but I didn't need another album of that kinda music either. I'll have to play the new one sooner rather than later, I just hadn't gotten around to it.

Well you got this record at the top so at least there’s that. I’d switch around Draw Down the Moon and Dealer tbh

DDTM is maybe the most disappointed I've been in an album in years. hopefully new Smidley this year whips as hard as the debut

Dealer > The Albatross > Nearer My God > DDTM but i love em all.
I need to be in the mood for this one these days as opposed to the first 2 LPs which are always right for the vibes
