The worst AOTY selection p4k has made in a long, long time. Good god.

Like honestly, what is the appeal

a good majority of the songs here are half-baked, or as Mr. Ramsay would say, "fucking raw."

Listening again.

I might like this if someone else was singing.

And someone else was writing the songs.

that feeling when against your better judgement you re-listen to a 2 out of 5 rating...and you now want to drop it lower.

I won't though, I mean, this is...I don't even connect with this on any level. Guess I'll just tip my 'not for me' hat one last time, keep my polite 2/5 rating and ride off into the sunset.

Just get the feeling the Mit could sing for 24 hours and still not land on an engaging melody - every line of vocals on the entire album, every damn song. sounds. EXACTLY. the. same. oh. my. gawd..

Waftiest non event album of 2018

I sort of see where Doof is coming from in saying every song sounds the same and I find that element offputting, but I do feel like the “blandness” “goes somewhere else” within the context of the whole package, that she’s demonstrating a level of remove from her own emotions thru form...maybe I feel a little bit swayed by how much my friends like this lady...I think this is her best album and an interesting album worth putting time into, even if I cap out at a 3.5 at best and maybe a 3 if we’re being honest

She uses a ton of chromaticism/“half-steps” on the keyboard which is weird for an artist like this. I think I’ve said this before but I personally feel like I couldn’t mistake a mitski song for anyone else, which is a virtue to me

If every one of her songs were as good as the “Your Best American Girl”, “Geyser”, “Nobody” types I’d get her. But her other songs are just...not. I don’t think they’re bad though, she just tends to operate at a very “ok” 2.5-3/5 level 80% of the time.

I think maybe it’d take a ‘Best Of’ for me to get the appeal of her style at all

Like Doof said, it would take another singer and songwriter to redeem her work
