I have a terrible feeling about the new one.
Here I go.

Fwiw, the singles were the least creative songs on the album. I happen to like them, but not exactly a great indication of the record

I loved one single (Rise, Naianashajsnsjabvdhjsa) , hated the other (i think it was Shoulders)

Rise’s placement is amazing. Kinda wish they didn’t spoil it as a single

As someone said in a soundoff, some of their best material they've put out recently and also some of the worst shit they have ever recorded. Can't say I liked the direction they take on "A Dissappearing Act" for example, in fact, I hated it, but gotta admit the latter half of the album is loaded with goodness.
Solid record, better than Vaxis I, I'm feeling.

I'm still a bit conflicted about the new album. In ways I feel like it's a tighter package than Vaxis 1, but on the other hand, it doesn't quite have the same scope and grandiose as Vaxis 1 either. The singles are fine, they have some nice energy, especially Shoulders, but also come off particularly shallow. The Liars Club is basically The Running Free 2.0 but... Actually fun!
I kinda wished they leaned more into the vibes found on Love Murder One, Blood and Bad Man throughout the entire album if I'm honest. Hot take I know! But they feel like a fresh new direction over the otherwise stagnant callbacks to their older sound with the singles. Obviously Ladders and the closer are the real deals here, shame it's a bit of a rocky road to reach them, personally.
I'm edging towards a 3.5 for Vaxis 2, I do feel as an overall package, Vaxis 1 has more to offer me. It's still a good album though nonetheless!

Can someone explain what the hell was 'A Disappearing Act' was?

A Disappearing Act is just fine for what it is. It has this synth/80's vibe to it and is pretty fun and love the chorus.
After a few listens now, Vaxis II breathes new life into Vaxis I for me. I did not really enjoy it when I heard it the first time, but now the songs hit differently and makes the journey feel more open. Plus, the drums are huge on Vaxis II
Top tracks for me so far.
Comatose
Shoulders
Love Murder One
The Liars Club
Bad Man
Ladders of Supremacy
Rise Nainasha
Window of the Waking Mind (Love how it ends the way the intro for Vaxis I starts)

The Vaxis theme closing the record gave me chills in. I’m bought into the story, or at least the idea of there BEING a story, in a way that I haven’t since the Good Apollo albums.
A Disappearing Act rules. It’s like their take on a Beast in Black song lol

I legit like every song on the new album except Shoulders

"Can someone explain what the hell was 'A Disappearing Act' was?"
One of the best songs on the album. I'd ask what the hell Shoulders and Bad Man are but I've beaten that dead horse to a pulp by now.

Coheed is a band I have always wanted to appreciate more than I actually do. There concepts are so grand and they exhibit so much talent on parts of tracks and occasionally full songs, but overall their albums end up sounding half-baked to me.

I am such a fan of Coheed that the normal, rational parts of my brain don’t work with them. I have fully bought into their weird and whacky world and I kinda think that’s the way to go about a band like this that is this far into their career. They’ve earned so much goodwill that I can stomach just about any misstep (Color Before the Sun), knowing that they can usually course correct quickly

Ladders to the end was a good run

Never listened to this band before the new album dropped today -- and only checked it out just to finally see what they're about. I liked what I've heard so far well enough.
I really like the trio run of Blood, The Liars Club, and Bad Man, though. Very solid section of an album there.

Listen to their first 3 albums in order if you're new to the band. Easily their best work and all 12/10 masterpieces.

I listened to 20 seconds of a few songs and then moved on. Who wants to be Coheed and Cambria champion?
