This new one is so much more fun and interesting than Vaxis I

Halfway through Ladders of Supremacy and I've officially decided this kicks Vaxis I ass.

I'd take the worst song on this over almost any song on II lmfao

This and Vaxis 1 are light night and day in terms of quality lmao

I'll give this another try, but I recall being super bored by this
Update: I tried again and think this is infinitely more bland and boring than the new one. Not understanding what y’all see in this

Black Sunday is severely underappreciated

Black Sunday might be the best song on here with Queen of the Dark. I listened to this a few times after Vaxis II and this album is definitely better than I remember but I'd still cut Toys, The Pavilion, Love Protocol, and probably Night-Time Walkers.
My biggest gripe with Vaxis I is that there are too many boring or lackluster verses that are only there to get you to the next catchy chorus, and the songs are too long without doing anything interesting/different throughout to warrant the runtimes. If these were Vaxis II lengths with those 4 songs cut I could see myself giving this a 4.0 on a good day.

wild stuff, that list of 4 is some of the best stuff here. Toys is a top 5 post Apollo joint even

Yeah I'm in the minority on Toys for sure. I think it's too long and not interesting enough. I don't dislike it - in fact The Pavilion is the only song I actually dislike here - but I think it and the other songs I listed are just "fine", which isn't really a glowing praise of it or most of the album. Toys and Night-Time Walkers have some really cool parts in them and I'd probably dig Toys a hell of a lot more if it ended before the solo and faded out on the "favorite toy" section.
Also True Ugly has the biggest letdown of a chorus on here and the only reason I wouldn't cut it is because the transition after each chorus and the bridge fucking rule.

true ugly, all on fire and queen of the dark are the only songs here i don't love. but they're still decent

Add me to the "Vaxis I beats Vaxis II by a mile" club.

I love All on Fire but "all on fire / oh no / please bring water" is abhorrent. I cringe a little bit every time I hear it but the song sounds like a good Year of the Black Rainbow tune so I have a soft spot for it.

Vaxis I definitely doesn't beat Vaxis II.
Next to YOTBR it's the only one I can't drop the needle on and listen all the way through.
It doesn't flow at all.

This is a good album, but is bloated af, a shorter version of this could've been amazing

More diverse song structures would've benefitted this album a lot. Unheavenly Creature drags out the chorus too much, Toys feels tedious, Black Sunday should've been fleshed out into something more epic (although it's practically perfect anyways).
Still better than Vaxis II though.
