I'm a weirdo whose favorite Coheed song is Three Evils and a huge reason for it is because of how poetic and vivid the lyrics are.

Lines like, "slowly discarded were the remains of his lonely youth" and "still recorded were the words that dribbled out his kiss" still kick ass to me and the delivery with how perfectly it flows is what I love about Claudio's old writing style.

It may not be the most relatable shit but it doesn't bother me in the least bit.

it's not rude to say your writing is bad dude, and you say others provided constructive criticism but you had a tantrum and rejected all of that rudely so I decided not to waste my time. Fairly I think

3 Evils and Lying Lies are like top three CoCa pop songs.

WatchItExplode, you and I are on the same page then, although I don't personally like Lying Lies that much compared to stuff from their first two records.

I was told on the Coheed subreddit by multiple people that I was the only person they'd ever heard say Three Evils was their favorite Coheed song.

I also think I've pinned down why I don't like Love Protocol too much - it sounds like a mash-up of The Afterman and Here We Are Juggernaut but not as good as either song.

The little Willing Well riffs in Queen of the Dark and It Walks Among Us are such perfect fan service too.

They're extremely similar songs. I basically consider them siblings. Beautiful bouncy little short songs.

All the fan service in this album is initially kind of exciting, but just depressing when you consider that Coheed is now in the business of propping up their work with gimmickry.

When the sample size is that small (especially considering that way more than 5 people read the review), considering the specific mentality of each person answering is the right way to interpret the feedback.

Since the other three statements you made are false (that I had a tantrum, that I rudely rejected criticism overall rather than a few rude comments, and that your way of expressing your opinion wasn't rude to begin with), I'll once again (politely) choose to reject your opinion with that knowledge firmly in mind. You are of course free to continue expressing it.

Fairly, I think.

The problem with the approach here is that it makes your first several one-sentence paragraphs look like notes you scribbled down and never fully developed. Some of your later paragraphs show a more detailed articulation of opinion and in-depth criticism, but if you pushed the notes and primitive thoughts into those more fully-fleshed thoughts (or culled them as appropriate), it'd be a better review.

This isn't an awful review, but it reads as lacking direction, which isn't uncommon to a stream of consciousness approach. I don't want you to think of that as a crutch though - whatever your approach, direction is important. That's why it often works to start with stream of consciousness, then step away, coming back to refine things with the spine of direction.

Just for your consideration moving forward. Don't let the negs get to you and do your best not to take criticism too personally.

What you're describing in paragraph two is what I tried to do. (Somewhat.) Fleshing out those thoughts more and providing a bit more structure would go a long way.

I'll admit I didn't spend a super long time on it. There are other albums I might review which are much less recent, so I would have a lot more to say about them. I was just so hyped by what I was hearing and inspired to sing what I felt were its praises that I swear I didn't have time to put more thought into the writing itself. :D

Thanks for the helpful advice, my man.
