Anna is just a watered down Your Wild Years, but since that's my favorite Menzingers song, I'm okay with them riffing on that formula for a bit longer

Strain Your Memory also rules, dang

I'd say that Anna is much closer to Casey than Your Wild Years

Strain Your Memory is an undeniable highlight. That, Anna and Farewell Youth take the top 3 quite easily for me. I also really like America and I Can't Stop Drinking.

High School Friend is excellent, but yeah, rest of the record hasn't been doing anything for me and Yip's production on this record is just the worst.

'Portland' and 'London Drugs' are my initial highlights, but I think I'm coming to the realization that nothing will ever tickle me the way "On the Impossible Past" did. This is 'good', but a clear notch below even 'Rented World' imo. I do prefer it slightly to 'After the Party' which was way too hook-based and poppy for its own good. I like the dialed back approach here, but after two listens, there seems like not much to return to. Not a fan of the production, but that's another story. This is like a moderately improved Gaslight Anthem album.

Damn, i have to give this a bump down. America grew on me and i like I Can't Stop Drinking, but other than that i find this pretty boring. I didnt think it would be this disappointing.

To me, I Can't Stop Drinking might be one of the worst tracks they've ever written lol

The guitar work is good, its one of the few songs with good lyrics, and its at least something they havent really tried before.

this review is so self-righteous and masturbatory that it is making me hate this album even more. ATP is my favorite release of theirs and OTIP is their magnum opus. i often wonder if a day goes by that greg hasnt had a drink? that man is addicted.

Excited to see this is being reviewed so positively since I wasn't a huge fan of the singles. Great review, hoping I enjoy it as much
