ngl I think I still prefer the Chroma album over the newer ones. This one has some great moments but I don’t like how it tames the flamboyant traits from basically every member

Speaking of Nick, goddamn he’s such an incredible player. I’d sum him up by saying he isn’t the best at any particular skill/method of guitar playing but the dude just knows how to create absolute ear worm riffs and runs that sound effortless. He’s a legend

Uhhh he's the best at the Nick Lee method. The dude is almost totally unique. Obviously grounded in the blues and rock and metal but doesn't sound like anyone else I can think of.

Yeah Chroma is really in a league of its own, hardest of 5s. I do enjoy the vvery palpable sense of hiding-my-powerlevel in their more streamlined stuff tho lol, they're so great at stuff that "sounds like it feels bad ass to play"

It's a toss-up between this and Crux for me. The last track on this hits so damn hard every time.

I cannot stop hearing "this piss in my blood" near the end of Alpha Howl

totally agree kompy.
It's fun that they can clearly shred and melt your face, but pull back and lean as far into easy-listening as their insane musicianship will allow. Wouldn't want them to ever purposfully strip themselves of the shred, but it's amusing to see it on here. Album rips and they rule live
