Oh, little plant
You’ve got no chance
Oh, little plant
You’ve seen the work
You’ve danced the dance
Front line fodder
For someone else’s romance
They were watching sunsets
You were straining for a vision

rabid - yeah people always say Arthur Russell which sure is still here too, but something in this really reminds me of that Durutti Column feel in tone, atmosphere and melodically too
I know he released an album in between but that seemed quite ‘lockdown’ - this is the perfect follow up to ‘Noonday Dream’ for me, would change very little, the overall style/instrumentation is perfect

prod here is in pretty close dialogue with the 00s indie/folktronica heyday. Durutti Column has got a similar flavour but i wouldn't say it illustrates the methodology here particularly clearly

Yeah this isn’t a homage to Durutti Column…but also I never felt he was totally following in the footsteps of Arthur Russell either.
It’s a similar thing - a flavour yes. This album feels brighter, it shimmers in the sun etc

Arthur Russell hadn't occurred to me at all for this - guess i can hear it in his delivery, but that smacks to me as a rym reflex-reference more than anything else

‘Noonday Dream’ was my intro to him and ‘World of Echo’ was my first thought gotta say, not overwhelming but to the level I’d be amazed if it wasn’t one of his top 20 albums

Hmm yeah I can hear that for Noonday - the way that one deals with empty space has a good bit in common

Does it?
