I'm just happy above all else that they've finally released a genuinely good album front-to-back

I'm actually cackling rn

I was listening before I read this review and literally repeated Bobby Sox thinkin "holy shit, this is literally just a weezer song"

Bobby Sox sounds ripped off of Blue, or at least its b-sides. It's actually a really compelling track to me for that reason. Seems like tourin together might've rubbed off on them. I don't know how I feel about the extremely cringe chorus. To me, Green Day in and of themselves are almost a cringe proposition in and of themselves, so there's something kinda quaint to them throwing caution to the wind in the same exact way that Rivers does and being like, "fuck it, we'll sing about asking to date like a teenager would at 51" -on the other, it is undeniably cringe lol

I've heard every single one of these songs before and not in a good way.
In 'Strange Days Are Here To Stay' I hear 'Stay The Night' 'Scattered' '86' 'Basket Case' 'Viva La Gloria' 'Stray Heart' and 'Nuclear Family' in the same song. Just the epitome "been there done that".

There are no cuts here that I'll come back to except 'Dilemma', it's a shame really but kudos to the marketing team who did a great job of piquing my interest in a Green Day album again.

One-Eyed Bastard is horrendous. The opening lick is literally just a rip of P!nk's "So What" lol

Overall though, this was a pleasant surprise. I am glad the band stripped the theatrics that had long since run their course and focused on songs that have energy and are fun. It doesn't always work -the opening song also kinda sucks and there is a fair amount of cringe to be found, but again this IS Green Day we are talking about- but this feels like the band finally accepting that they are a legacy act and making just enough quality songs to sneak in their setlists to keep things interesting.

They do enough "new" stuff for them like Bobby Sox to keep you ever-so-slightly on your toes, but for the most part it's just returning to what worked and giving it all another look. It's no Stardust, but it'll do

I like Look ma and Coma city as well, but otherwise this so spot on how I feel as well.

Excited to check this out today, it sounds like they've rebounded substantially after the disaster that was FoAM

FoAM is like an interesting car wreck. That was a band that had already been pretty low just barreling towards the center of the earth lol It was somehow a mockery of Green Day and also like....indie pop from the 2000's? I remember there were rumors that they had made the album essentially in protest to their label and it's so bad that I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional lol

@Gyro

shoulda left that in drafts, buddy

Why? It’s true, you just witnessed it lol. Dude literally dislikes a song and Rowan blatantly insinuates it’s because he’s a bigot.

Disliking a song with "bisexual" energy is different than disliking a song because it has bisexual energy lol

Man, I love showing up to a music related site to always be greeted with another thumb sucking "these liberals, I'm so much smarter than the liberals!" post from some greasy wife beater who has nothing better to do than to get triggered in the comment section of a Green Day album.

This website is full of clowns sometimes
