Summer bro rock that the kids can bob their heads along to just as much as the frat
boys can. What's interesting about Smash Mouth is that yes, their music has always
been fun and brainless dude tunes, but if one looks a little deeper into their sound
and takes them a bit more seriously if they can, they'll notice that Smash Mouth has
seamlessly blended quite a few genres together. Magic displays this just as well, it
brings the feel good vibes of ska and reggae music and combines them with an
easily accessible pop rock angle to amount to a collection of sunny party songs that
anyone can have fun with. This album isn't anything new for Smash Mouth, so it
can't help but feel outdated by about a decade, and because of this the hooks don't
grab hold as effectively as they would have in the early 2000's, but Smash Mouth is
still going strong, and everyone, themselves included, can only have nothing but a
good time with this music.
