5.0 classic | Blackbelt54 | July 17th 13 | I don't want to oversell this, but this is one of the best punk albums I've ever heard. Keep in mind, I'm a big Night
Birds fanboy. But really, this album is intense, catchy as hell, and more mature than their previous works. There
are now slow, brooding songs to complement the aggressive surf punk attack. The lyrics are focused more on
society than sci-fi B-movies. This album is aggressive and angry in a controlled, intelligent manor. Here's the big
hyperbole to end the soundoff: if this album doesn't go down as one of the best punk albums ever, that would
truly be an injustice to these guys and what they have created with Born to Die in Suburbia.

5.0 classic | Alabaster Jones | November 9th 16 | This sophomore full-length from Jersey punk royalty Night Birds eclipses everything they had done up until this point, but not by doing things differently. The Night Birds you hear on Born To Die In Suburbia are still the same Night Birds from The Other Side Of Darkness. The only difference is, here they're just on steroids. The riffs are more killer, the pacing is smoother, the lyrics more clever, and the songs even better written than before. Even the instrumentals, which aren't usually all that fantastic if we're not talking about "Squad Car", are wonderful, opener "Escape From New York" being one of the best covers of that classic of all time. Of course, the raucous and self-conscious attitude with which the band plays every note with mixed with that undeniable blue-collar passion takes everything up a notch as well, and though it may not be their catchiest record, there's still plenty of memorable material to go along with the overall raise in songwriting and even production quality. Simply put, Born To Die In Suburbia is the quintessential Night Birds album, and that should be enough for a fan of hardcore surf punk to want to hear this. Also, damn you Trump!
