Review of the Month: February 2002
Imagine that your long-time girlfriend just broke up with you; shortly thereafter a huge gust of wind picks you up and sets you on a cloud. The cloud takes you all over; futuristic cities covered in neon lights (think Bladerunner), over the deepest, darkest oceans on Earth and at the end of the journey the cloud returns you to the ground just outside of a 7/11 and hands you $1.29 to go purchase a can of Arizona Iced Tea. Just before the cloud and yourself go separate ways, it tells you to go straight home and download Yung Lean’s “Unknown Death 2002”.
If Lil Ugly Mane and Lil B were somehow involved in a science experiment, they became the same entity then moved to Sweden then that’s exactly what this is. If Lil Ugly Mane and Lil B were somehow involved in a science experiment, they became the same entity then moved to Sweden then that’s exactly who Yung Lean is. With production from fellow Sad Boys, Yung Gud and Yung Sherman, and one from both Sucideyear and Friendzone; cool beats guys! They set the tone for Yung Lean’s strange, “
based” style of rapping, mixing rapping with autotune. Great job!
“Unknown Death 2002” is an album that is a must for anyone who is a fan of music, as this is probably going to go down as the “must have” album of the year. Turn the lights out, light a few candles, sip your Arizona Iced Tea and let Yung Lean do the rest. Thanks!
