For Crane things are starting to get darker and darker with this album. This spiral will eventually lead to Crane's suicide six years later. The title track and 'dance of death' are clear examples, with 'carnival' that even tinges itself with gothic rock shades. An unusual album for Atomic Rooster, but not bad at all. It has its flaws and its useless tracks (like 'machine'), but overall is at least an intriguing goodbye.
