Man, its really hard to believe this is the same band. Peter Furler really made this band, and you can really tell. They may have been extremely cheesy, they may have had hand-fisted religious lyrics, half of their discography may have been ridiculous and borderline cringey, but man that's what made them special. Their sounds may have been goofy, but they had direction, and they knew how to make a good funky song, and even a legitimately good song sometimes. Can't say the same for whatever this is. Their reunion album was inevitable.
