Review Summary: Goosebumpscore

Nayru is a band formed from former members of Malon. To describe their music in a few words I could use made-up words like, emoviolence, flowerviolence, skramz, and twinkly, but really I like to describe their music using one word.

Moving.

They use their instruments to convey more than just notes, and although it may be initially hard to get past the unorthodox vocals of the main vocalist, their is as much as emotion in his passionate howls as Jeff Smith of Jeromes Dream. In fact, the music itself during the heavier moments reminds me very much of Jeromes Dream, and the quieter bits remind me of Saetia or Off Minor, or City of Caterpillar on the song Ghost Dance.

Ghost Dance is a nine minute track that showcases everything Nayru are able to do. They start out with a riff that builds for five minutes, much like the City of Caterpillar track A Little Change Could Go A Long Ways. During this build-up Nayru uses a sample of a man talking about how he is "cashing in", and "doesn't want anything anymore." After the epic build-up the music explodes with fiery passion.

And, although the lyrics are pretty much entirely incomprehensible, if you take the time to read them they are actually fantastic and go along with the music well.

"Connect,
Failing,
Choking,
The Anecdotes

Stored in,
His chest,
Movement,
Has not graced her

Years that,
Spin backwards,
Tear,
Her dried out skin

Scars etch,
Themselves,
Across,
The Decaying

Figure,
Of loss,
Time's left,
Necessity

Stumbling,
Without,
Grasping,
The essence of

Acknowledgement,
One final hymn rings through "

"Stored in the recesses of our minds
We watched and we wept
Until there were no tears left to
Grace their wrinkled faces

A flame flickers, burns, and dies
But the compulsions won't let him pass
It's always been there, the ghost
It's always been whispering
Weaving threads of obsession

This endless famine of the joys,
And the sorrows are there too,
This complexion hides them all
Unraveling the sanctuaries slowly
And burning the cathedrals quietly"

Although this is an imperfect release, it definitely shows a lot of promise and potential from a band that just started out. If you like what you hear, chances are Nayru will amaze you would amaze you even more if they took the time to refine their song structures and ideas, and focus on creating the best songs that they are able to create.

Nayru know to move you. Whether it's that you're thrashing around and destroying your surroundings, or to make you wanna lay down on your bed and cuddle with your pillow, Nayru know just how to move you.

aight review btw, i think you should use more words to describe how it sounds rather than compare it to other bands because it assumes the reader has actually listened to these bands which you shouldnt do and its a lazy way to describe the band

Although some of these vocals remind me of deathcore. Which is not a good thing.

Yak, this is so dope. Even though I laugh at the tire squeal screams, its not because their funny its

cause there so damn extreme. m/. What really sold me though is "The Sky Is The Floor" samples from

probably my favorite movie of all time.
