Review Summary: The Bunny the Bear’s acoustic EP is a big success. Although this is a different area than which they usually dwell, they still manage not to disappoint.
This is The Bunny The Bears first EP, and it is composed of slow acoustic ballads. Although the whole album is acoustic, they still manage to work their signature sound into it.
The album starts off with When You’re Alone. Lyrics like “I will find you through the storm and the rain” and “I will find you, let me take your pain” tug at the heart strings. The high notes from the bear never fail at giving me chills. The track Every Boy talks about the struggle of whether or not someone is worth waiting for, and emotion spills out of Chris’s voice. The vocals are accompanied by a soothing acoustic guitar part, making this track my favorite on the EP. The Melodies sung back and forth by Chris and Matt on What Shade We make blend very well with the instrumental, and an added drum track gives improvement from the original. Fans will not be disappointed by this remake, for it has improved a great deal since it’s appearance on The Bunny The Bear’s Self-Titled. The track Angel Requiem may not stick at first, but in time it will manage to wow you as the previous tracks have. The song seems to be an attack at an ex, while well written, doesn’t fit the songs instrumental all too well.
For this being The Bunny the Bear’s first EP, I am very surprised as to how well they were able to convey the emotion and pure beauty in these tracks. Although it may not be perfect, it still manages to amaze.
