Review Summary: Time to take a journey..

Lonley The Brave are one of the most talked about newcomers in the UK at the moment along with the likes of Royal Blood and Marmozets (who are amazing live!).

"The Day's War" is the Cambridge UK five-piece debut album. Having already supported the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Deftones, it has been a nice stepping stone into the limelight. Lonely the Brave's sound is somewhere between There will be Fireworks (singing with an English accent), You Me at Six and Elbow.

The album is filled with hopeful, heart-swelling rock anthems throughout and matched perfectly with frontman David Jakes's clever lyrics. Each song leads into the next making it a cohesive record and not just a collection of songs.

The epic choruses within 'Deserter' of "I see clear and I see that I want you" and 'Backroads' "I'll be the sky and you be the bird" will have you singing along in no time.

The band are searching for optimism throughout and in the highlight track of the album 'The Blue, the Green' this really shows with the lyrics "I wanna know what it's like, so I can feel it inside." Dave's evocative bellowing vocals are mesmerising before the shimmering guitars come in building up in a euphoric guitar solo. I haven't heard anything this good since last years There Will be Fireworks outstanding song 'River'.

By the end of the album you will feel like you have been on a journey you want to relive by listening to every song again. Although album sales are at a 3 year low, with new British bands such as Lonely the Brave, Royal Blood, Mallory Knox and Marmozets etc currently releasing records the future is looking bright for British rock music.

Will give this a whirl.

In among them new bands Slaves have to be mentioned.
I thought "here we go yet another two piece, two bob outfit" but they are one of the most exciting new bands I've heard in years and can genuinely be called "punk"

Seeing them live again next month. Will be better now I know the lyrics. Dave is a strange frontman, sings sideways to the

crowd throughout

Fuck man, this is pretty great. Their 2016 album is among my Spotify recommendations, but I thought I should check out their debut first.

They are not disbanded. Got a new vocalist and want to release new music in 2020. Let's see how the new guy is.
