Review Summary: So good you'll never believe it's a B-sides album
The Lawrence Arms are so consistently good it's absurd. In between the modern punk classics
The Greatest Story Ever Told and
Oh! Calcutta! they drop this bomb on the world.
Cocktails and Dreams is a nice little collection of B-sides and rarities by the boys from Chicago, and oh boy does it have it all. It's got the deep cuts and it's got the fan favorites that are so good they will make you gasp "My word, how can these be b-sides, they're heavenly?" Well the answer to that is simple: The Lawrence Arms are just really ***ing good. On
Cocktails and Dreams they're just doing their thing and making it look easy. From the fan favorites "100 Resolutions" and "Intransit," to the epic four part closer "Turnstyles," The Lawrence Arm, craft great song after great song that proves they're the best modern punk band around. Overall,
Cocktails and Dreams is 16 adrenalin filled, sweat drenched melodic punk tunes that would make any other band in the scene jealous because their A-sides are nowhere near as good as these B-sides.
