Release Date: 2004 | Tracklist

Age of Silence, signed to the end records, push the limits of progressive metal with their debut release of 'Acceleration' released in 2004, the band comes together combining members of Arcturus, Borknagar, and Winds to explore new depths of the progressive metal world. This supergroup picks up where each of the members bands had left off.

Lineup...
Lazare(Solefald, Borknagar) - Vocals
Extant(By pale light) - Guitars
Kobbergaard(By pale Light) - Guitars
Eikind(Winds) - Bass
HellHammer(Arcturus) - Drums
Winter(Winds) - Keyboards

Tracklist...
Auditorium of Modern movements
Acceleration
The concept of haste
A song for D Incorporated
The green office and the dark desk drawer
The flow at 9:30 am
Of concrete and glass
90* angles
I no longer know if I am mad
Sythetic, Fabricated, Calculated

From the very first seconds of this album, Age of Silence introduces you to the odd noises that you will encounter throught this album. The fusion of progressive rock and metal with psychadelic and avant garde chaos is evident, leaving no scraps on the table for anyone else to take, this album is completely their own.
From a lyrical standpoint, Lazare is strong through the album with vocal harmonies and climaxes very similiar to his work with Solefald. He's got one of the most distinguishable voices in extreme/progressive metal. The vocals on this album are well written also, he explores the stock market and the rat race known as human evolution along with many future concepts.
The music is excellent, as you would expect it to be when you bring together this many talented musicians. Andy Winters keyboards are perfect to balance out the pounding drums and guitars.
Tracks like Auditorium of Modern movement and The Green office and Dark desk drawer show perfect balance and harmony in part of the band.
Of concrete and glass and 90* angles pretty much some up the album. The former track showing of the fusion of avant garde, psychadelic and progressive metal that this album has while the latter track showing the beauty and precision that is achieved.
'Acceleration' is truly unique in it's own right, there are shades of Arcturus and Winds here and there but nobody seems to be complaining. This is a nice vent from the extreme metal world that these members are well known for.

Overall 4.5/5 I can't wait to see what these guys can pull out of their hats next.

Stellar lineup; I really want to hear the rest of this album. I love The Concept Of Haste. Good review, though perhaps a bit brief.

Awesome album, I love the harmonies they create. Andy Winter on keys is just awesome. I would include more information about the CD.This Message Edited On 01.27.06

What kind of band do they sound like?

I'll probably give them a download since they have gotten a lot of good reviews.

Drummer is ****ing Hellhammer? I need to get this. My only problem is the vocalist, I don't like how he sounds in Solefald, so I doubt I'd like his vocals here either.

If you don't like his vocals in Solefald then you'll hate them here.

Well, guessed so. Musically they sound quite interesting though. Weird as heck, but awesome. I will check them out, if somehow I manage to ignore the vocals I think I'll find this album great.

hopefully you'll get used to the vocals and realize they add to the weird music.

After a listen, this album gets a nice 3.5. Instrumentally it's awesomely weird, I like it most of the time. The vocals, though... They add to the weirdness, as you said, but they still get on my nerves. I just don't like 'em =/

Still, great album

Pretty slick record, though I gotta agree with the vocals, though I've gotten to the point of acceptence to some degree anyway. They sorta remind me of Warrel's from Nevermore, though a little higher. Definitely a talented line-up though, this and his drumming in Arcturus really gave me some new found respect for Hellhammer's drumming.

Decent review, surprised you didn't get more razzin' for the length though

How do they remind you of Warrel from Nevermore? They really don't sound anything alike and if anything Warrel's are higher.
