Review Summary: Denzel Curry released the mixtape of the year while you were busy trying to lose your virginity, Josh Fountain.
2016: the year of heated political tension, bizarre foreign affairs, dank blunts, and sharing nudes. Enter Denzel Curry, former underdog under the Rvidxrs (see what I did there lol), who has recently dropped the mixtape of the mother***in year. What? Who is Denzel Curry? Is he anything like Lil Uzi Vert? Is he cosigned by Jay-Z? Does he have a big wang? Did his auntie twist his dreds? Let us delve into the cosmic wonderland of Imperial, via a day in the life of myself. A narrative bruh.
--------
The sun pierces through the cracks around the curtains in my window. ***, my head is pounding. I hate it when it's $2 wells I drank too many whiskey sours. I roll over and see one of my coworkers. Goddammit. I push her out of my bed and tell her to *** off. She yells at me and tells me I always do this when I'm blackout but all I say is
"You know you do it for this dick, bitch."
She laughs and gingerly scoops up her belongings and leaves. Thank God(?). I gaze across my bedroom and realize how dirty it is. Shoes and clothes strewn across the floor. An empty pack of rillos lie on the floor. A staunch smell of flat Milwaukee's Best and rancid pussy permeates the room. ***, I need to get high. I climb out of bed to grab my bong when it hits me; I sashay to the bathroom and yak all over the bathtub. Dammit I'll have to clean that later. Wiping the bile off my lips, I brush my teeth and connect my phone to the Bluetooth speaker. It's already connected? What was the last thing I listened to?
"Loft Music - The Weeknd"
Well at least I got a nut, I realize as I notice the dry stains in my bed. I need to vibe and wake myself up while I clean the heezy. Hmmmmm. I open up Spinrilla on my phone and look my mixtape library. Oh *** I forgot Denzel Curry released a new tape. I press play and--
lol I'm done telling this story. Listen, "ULT" is a ***ing banger and the production makes the song, but Curry's raw, unbridled rage sets the tone for the album. "Gook" was my immediate favorite upon first listen. Still bangs. "Knotty Head" is potentially my favorite song of the year although by default "Same Old Love" by Selena Gomez is song of the year until at least 2019. The hook of "Knotty Head" is so goddamn infectious and the song as a whole flows together so well. Rick Ross even has a verse worth a damn.
Curry's flow has developed so well and excels in standout track "Pure Enough". The bouncy "Zenith" featuring the well endowed Joey Bada$$ switches things up, but is a perfect fit for both of these young stars. Funky album closer "If Tomorrow's Not Here", showcases everything I love about this tape. The beats, the flows, the vibes, the hard shaft I get; everything. I strongly recommend this mixtape if you have a big cock and aren't scared of anyone and enjoy green label Evan Williams.
