While the album title is innuendo to an excess of heaviness and arrangement intricacy, it's also an oxymoron with respect to its tone; Ampalanche is above all, a particularly relaxing psych pop/rock jam largely due to its sound, albeit the tempo is elevated in some songs. However, apart from the 49-minute, digital bonus album closer, a psych/drone odyssey which works -in a good way- towards delivering the listener into the hands of Morpheus, nothing else really stands out.
