3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | August 14th 16 | The Frosted Original features a playful, relatively upbeat sound within the confines of hypnagogic pop, and works well when giving these short, minimalist takes on the style. It's quite a short affair, but it's a decent enough listen nonetheless. It's impressive that there already is a distinct atmosphere at play here despite the short length, sounding watery and calm, especially when you consider Ian Crane only just started releasing music. Of course, the ideas explored here aren't explored to the fullest extent they could've been, and feel more like snippets of larger songs than songs proper. Point being, the sound is definitely there, but it should be expanded on further in the future. If that happens, then this is assuredly a project to keep an eye out for.
