I will admit that upon my first listen to 'Visuals', I was a bit confused and underwhelmed. After several thorough listens, the melodies and atmospheres present on this album are trying brilliant. A previous listener said it best when he mentioned it was a grower. I expect Mew to experiment with each release, and sometimes experimentation is directed towards cleaner arrangements. The lack of Bo's dirty guitar tone is apparent, but Jonas Bjerre does a fine job of expressing his subtle guitar approach. After focusing on it, I feel his playing is more than appropriate. Jonas truly shines vocally, as well as lyrically, which is always a given. I noticed many similarities to Bjerre's 'Skyskraper' soundtrack. While listening to that soundtrack, I actually hoped that future Mew would take influence from that material. It looks like my hopes were granted! This is a stellar record. Just give it some time.

Once you get over The fact that Bo isnt with the band anymore and start listening without prejudice. You Will find that this is an excellent album. Great atmosphere. Great synths which has mostly replaced the guitarriffs, dominates the album to great effect. There is a lot of Classic Mew-elements throughout the album that makes you feel at home with this new sound. Jonas sounds as good as ever.

Would it be Mew without really tacky album art? I think not. Edit: Upon listening to the album, this is quite a strange move for Mew. They ditch really anything they've previously done for a more Indie-Pop album. There isn't much going on in terms of guitar riffs like their previous albums, with synths filling their place. It's short (almost too short), and it may bamboozle long-time Mew fans, but it's a hell of a grower! I just wish they'd have blessed us with another epic closer, but that's my only real gripe here.

This band is amazing. Another really great album. And again, very underwhelming on first few
listens. But eventually like all their previous ones, the genius transcends to the top. I
personally don't like it as much as the last two, its less guitar driven, more synth sounds, but
the essence of Mew is present, its just great. Really good album
