US (old school) heavy/power metal has always been an underground affair at its prefecture of origin; What's more, the number of outfits left to guard their respective Hot Gates is constantly diminishing, either due to fan underappreciation, or because of age, so it's always a time to rejoice whenever new blood like Emblem from Canada, is transfused to the circuit. Emblem carries some shortcomings typically encountered in a debut album, the most important of all being the lack of songwriting diversity, however Canadians have the sound, an as yet underdevelopped tendency for more extreme forms of metal, and overall, the necessary drive that will take them to the next level/album.
