Gothic death-doom that brings to mind early-Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. The vocalist's growls might bring to mind Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis) while the use of violin is also quite reminiscent of My Dying Bride. However, the above are just an indication of the band's brand of music because overall Age Of Damnation is a plodding if not highly flawed affair which is somewhat saved by its atmosphere and some interesting guitar leads/riffs here and there. This results into an unnecessary long album which feels even longer. Nevertheless, if The Father of Serpents work on their songwriting a bit more and manage to produce a more streamlined sophomore effort, they might be able to surprise us as they seem to be good students of the death-doom scene of the '90s.
