4.0 excellent | GwyntTywyll | October 10th 17 | I will scream it from the mountaintops: this is closer to a true Sagas sequel than anything Equilibrium have given us in recent years. And screaming from mountaintops and running through vast green meadows are exactly the types of activities this album makes me long for!rThe Equilibrium inspiration is quite clear in the style of the speedy riffs and jubilant folk melodies. It also helps that the vocalist sounds very similar to Helge Stang at times. Admittedly, Atlas Pain never quite reach the same heights of epicness as songs like "Unbesiegt" or "Blut im Auge" and are generally less frantic, but What the Oak Left nevertheless gives me that same stupid grin and unique rush of Epic Folk energy.rNow, if you're on a strict low-cheese metal diet, this album might not be for your particular palate. This is swashbuckling fare for sunny days, clear blue skies and chasing the bad guys away in a herd of unicorns. But for those who can shamelessly eat this shit up with joy, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better dose of it in 2017
