Well seeing as someone has already review 'Get behide me Satan' i think it's about time someone put the final piece in the puzzle.Unlike this year's Satanic release or 2003's mega selling blues rock masterpiece.'De Stijl' was a simple Garage rock record that introduced the World to the fantasic talents of Lead singer,Guitarist and songwriter Jack White.

This year's the White Stripes headlined England's biggest music festival Glastonbury and there was not much of their trademark fuzzy Garage rock.Instead the band played pianos, maribas. But watching the Stripes play at Blackpool in January 2004 is a different story. The song are faster and louder and even old track like 'Astro' sounded as good and as urgent as top 10 hits 'Seven nation Army' and their break through single 'Hotel Yobra'.Anyone who has senn the White Stripes will know that their one of the best live act in the world.Well all that raw energy found in their live shows can also be found here.

The opening track 'You're pretty good looking' is a great Beatles style pop workout as is 'Truth dosen't make a sound'.The 60's pop sound can be found a lot on this record. The first single 'Hello Operator' is shambloic messy rock n' roll at it's best and even 'Apple Blossom' with it's pounding piano loop work's a treat.'Why can't You be nicer to Me' is a great mean and moody piece of Blues.

There really not a single bad track on here. This is (in my opinon) The White Stripes best record and was the first truly great record of the 21st century.

I think all their records are about the same rating. Except the first one, that falls a bit short. This Message Edited On 08.01.05

Was Hotel Yorba their breakthrough single over in the UK only, because here in the states I could almost swear it was Fell In Love With A Girl

It's not my fault it they felt like repeating themselves, again.

Repeating themselves again how it's only the second album plus your comment is spelt wrong.

I always thought it was their third. Meh.

Anyway, what I was trying to say is that their first three records are all fairly the same, with only a few good, catchy songs and a bunch of boring filler. Of course, that all changed with Elephant, in my opinion.

This is another band that I just can't get into. I havn't liked any of their albums before or after Elephant and even that wasn't as great as most people think it was. (in my opinion at least)

I think the White Stripes greatest contribution was just showing that there is still a place in popular music for something new and unique. I respect them for that but I just can't enjoy most of their music.

I don't own this album but I've heard my sister play it repeatedly, I still don't think I can give an unbiased review based on what I've heard but I would rate this album arund a 2.5/5 based on my own tastes.

Hey I tried to give a civil reason for why I don't enjoy this album. Feel free to talk shite about my musical taste if you want to. I'm still allowed to make my opinion heard and I specifically said that I wasn't into this album not that it wasn't good in it's own right.

I think people should listen to the song "Little Bird". It's the only song I've heard off of this album, but it shows so much promise, and I love the bluesy sliding in the chorus.

I agree. It's a very decent album, but doesn't quite match up to their other work, but is definitly worth a listen. It did take me a while to get into it though, but now I love it, while at first I thought it was rubbish. Elephant and White Blood Cells are brilliant, and I also love Self Titled. Get Behind Me Satan is very diffent, but still also a very good album, it shows how much variation The White Stripes have. I rank the albums as - 1. Elephant 2. White Blood Cells 3. The White Stripes 4. Get Behind Me Satan 5. De Stijl
