Review Summary: Epic but most importantly unique Pagan neo-folk that fans of Dead Can Dance, Autumn Tears, and Qntal will be able to appreciate. There is nothing like getting out of bed on a early Saturday morning to walk outside and appreciate nature at it‘s finest hour. With my cup of steaming peach roobis tea in hand I walk out to my backyard and sit in my personal chair ready to engage my surroundings. I start to relax and begin to take in the serenity that enshrouds my peaceful neighborhood. The bird’s are chirping happily together as the otter’s in my lake begin to glide magnificently through the calming waters. Gopher turtles are perched on my mainland chomping away on grass with rabbits occasionally strolling into view. The sun is out kissing my face with it’s cheerful beam as the wind beings to gently blow. As I stretch my muscles from the previous day’s labor, I‘m about to fall back asleep in a peaceful bliss. But like all good things, the morning comes to an end. A rather abrupt interruption took place inspiring me to walk back inside and put on Faun’s latest album, “Totem”. No matter how quickly or often people ruin my day I can always count on Faun to cheer me up.
Faun’s music is a relaxing blend of neo-folk driven by acoustic guitar and beautiful dueling vocals between the band’s three vocalist’s. I’ve heard much of the band’s discography before but Totem is my favorite album that I’ve came across so far. This is a very calming album touching on themes of nature and cultural serenity with several foreign instruments lending their influence to the medieval based atmosphere of Totem. Celtic, Middle Eastern, and Scandinavian styles are brought together with a wide range of instruments binding together to create a memorable album. Hurdy Gurdy, flutes, didgeridoo, Celtic and Jew harps, fujara, violins, nyckelharpa, dombra, sound samples and synthesizers are just some of the instruments that the five members of the group like to play with. Another strong aspect to the music are the vocals divided between three vocalists, Oliver, Fiona, and Sandra. The three are very powerful yet delicate, usually layering their voices together. Fortunately they are just as equally spellbinding when singing solo. Never have I once heard the German language sung so smoothly and beautifully before but Faun has really outdone themselves here. I highly recommend that everyone listen to the industrial tinged rocker ‘2 Falken”. The female vocals are sung with so much power and emotion I could hardly breathe when I heard it the first time. The rhythm in this song is so powerful that I can’t stop tapping my foot. This song brings out a hungry lust where my only solution to feed this craving is to take out my Djembe drum’s and follow along for five minutes. Another great song is the following track, November. Dueling male and female vocals are layered together with the acoustic guitar and minimalist synthesizers’ for the highly engaging ballad.
This album is extremely powerful in capturing feeling, to me, the most important aspect when listening to music. Another big plus to this album’s name is the consistency shown through each of the ten song‘s. There are several stand out tracks with a lack of any real filler which brings to mind that the band has done a great job planning and writing their material. Other songs worth checking out include Gaia and Rad. If you consider yourself a fan of Dead Can Dance, Qntal, Autumn Tears, or The White EP from Agalloch I suggest that you find this immediately.

Yes and yes. I will edit the intro because I say it more often than I should, well at least change slab anyways. The draft was indeed late but we formed another one because of my lack of abilities to work the internet. Quite hilarious if your team drafted Tom Brady paynetiger. Check this out Willie, and Dead Can Dance for that matyter.

I ended up with Carson Palmer, who I have in another draft as well. The only thing I'm really mad about in it is my defensive players. I just spent about an hour dropping and adding players and now I have 9 transactions I am waiting for on waivers lol.

You describe the album really well, but I had two issues:
1. The introduction is a little meh.
2.
Never have I once heard the deutsche language sung so smoothly and beautifully before but Faun has outdone themselves here First off, it would be the 'Deutsch' language, and second of all, don't even say Deutsch. Just stick with 'German'.

I think your review isn't getting much attention because:
1) it's folk and this is Sputnik (my last review was folk and look how ignored it was)
2) it's Saturday night and most people are probably not online.

Thanks for trying, but that has made my influenza not go away, despite the refreshing tone.
I seriousness, I didn't enjoy it so much. And don't be concerned about the lack of attention. A lot of my reviews have gone completely unnoticed, and to me that's fine.
