This is the only Ghoulies album that I own so I won't be able to compare it to their other albums...sorry. This is one of my favorite punk albums though, due to the rawness of it. It's the way punk should be...no make up, three chords per song, no over the top singing, no complaining in the songs about how their ex-girlfriends broke their heart, and of course, as their name suggests, most of their songs relate to '50s horror movies with frankenstein and zombies(much like The Misfits). This is my second album review, and my first was pretty good, so lets see how this one goes:

Pros: -guitars have a nice grungy feel to them
-a breath of fresh air for punk listeners
-nothing over the top

Cons: -vocals can get annoying
-songs are very simple

Sounds Like:Ramones
You'll Like it if You Like: Old Skool Green Day, The Misfits

Kepi: Vocals
Roach: Guitar
B-Face: Bass
Amy: Drums

Boothill Express: A great instrumental song. This is probably my favorite song on the album too. It begins with a simple yet fast drum beat and then the guitar comes in with one chord and fades out. The catchy beat should have you banging your head within 30 seconds or so. The main riff is played several times and then fades out with one more chord. 4.5/5

Bye Bye Brain: About a two minute track, it doesn't stand out much, since most of the songs on the album sound relatively the same. An up tempo song but not that catchy. 2/5

The Highwayman: Better than Bye Bye Brain due to the slight higher pitch of Kepi's vocals. Not as uptempo as it later in the song but the guitar solo is pretty rockin'. The verse is basically just repeated twice, a bridge, then the verse again, and then the same bridge at the end. 2.5/5

Free Bird: A very short song and relatively boring. The guiar changes tempo about 30 seconds into the song and you think it will become better and change into a different riff but then you hear the outro and its disappointing to hear what could of been a better song go down the drain. 1.5/5

Hard Night's Day: Shorter than Free Bird but noticebly better. Catchier lyrics with a more upbeat guitar riff. This song is able to stick in your head for days at a time...be prepared before listening to this track! 3/5

Hair of Gold (And Skin of Blue): This song is not as fast paced as the rest but still is a good solid track. Listening to the lyrics provides some pretty cool metaphors about a girl. 3/5

(The Girl is) An Unsolved Mystery: About the same message as the last track but with some more complex drums during the chorus. It's a bit more up tempo too and better than most of the other tracks. 3.5/5

Ghoulie Family: Back to the fast paced punk on the album...the chorus again will be stuck in your head for a while. 3.5/5

Daughter of Frankenstein: A "true" Ghoulies track due to the references to the '50s horror films. This is one of those tracks that can describe a band just by listening to the one song. A solid song. 3/5

I'd Rather Be Alone(Than Be With You): Starts off with Roach on a catchy guitar solo-esque riff that she repeats during the chorus too. The song then slows down and repeats over a few times. 3.5/5

Leprechaun Rock: Another noticable track on the album...the chorus is slower than the rest of the verses. Something about this track that can't be described in words...just listen to it. 3/5

Criswell Predicts...: The intro isn't all that great but once it get's to the verse and the chorus it becomes more likeable. 4/5

Dancing Late at Night: Starts of with a deep guitar riff with Amy's drums shaking in the background as she plays a tom solo. A great solo, intro, and verse but the chorus isn't all that noticeable. 3.5/5

Happy Birthday: Do you like the happy birthday song that your parents sang to you as a kid? You do? Well then this is the song for you. The only lyrics are "Happy Birthday to you" repeating over and over. Just imagine the original birthday song with guitar, bass, and drums and you have this song. 3/5

This has been fun writing this review...not as fun writing my last review but at least this one is a legitemite album that people can actually buy and listen to to compare my review to since my last review was over a bootleg and no one could ever find the album I reviewed (Troy: Metallica). See you guys later, leave me some comments and such...thanks, later.
