Stoner #1: Alright did you bring the weed?
Stoner #2: Who needs weed when you can have Six Organs Of Admittance?

So why is this stoner saying what he is. Mainly because this CD gives you an aural high. It's soft acoustic melodies and pounding bongos and other assorted gypsy instruments is so hypnotizing it's like techno. Everything is pieced together perfectly to give this weird druggy campfire feel to it.

The first songs bongos are just so lazy and have no set rhythm or pattern and it makes you feel the same way. It just loosens you up and makes you feel nice and relaxed. The hypnotizing effect is also greatly to due to the fact that each song is 22 minutes long and there is a musical change every 6 minutes. But it doesn't get boring at all. The songs carry along gently and never seemed forced. It's not quite like an ambient experience since you can sense every instrument and can remember what you listened to, but it's close to it. The first track has these monk chants that really get inside your head. It just takes over your senses and relaxes you. Halfway through the song there is brief singing and it’s like a lullaby. Some part in the song a girl is saying stuff and telling a story but it feels like "who cares I'm too lazy to focus anyways". You just feel completely relaxed. As I was saying earlier about the campfire effect, the second song has this crackling going about the whole song that sounds just like a bon-fire. The guitar plays very soft licks that just put you to sleep (in a good way). The atmosphere of this album is just astounding.

I have never heard anything quite like this album. It's so lazy and beautiful and calm. You feel as though you’re isolated from the outside world and listening to some hippy guy talk about some weird myth story. I can't really talk about this musically because it’s an overall feel CD. The first one has an eastern tribal feel to it and the second one has a campfire folk feel. The music leaves you remembering the whole body of work not just specific melodies and licks and such. This music is just great to chill out too or a safe alternative to drugs.

Six Organs of Admittance is amazing.

I don't think anybody realizes how great they are.

This is also the only release of theirs I haven't heard.

So I'm kind of blank. This Message Edited On 10.06.05

I just got this album and i actualy have no idea how.

Your review is very accurate and this is clearly drug lounging music without getting ambient thanks to the guitar skill of this guy. This is relaxing although some guitar solos or guitar parts if you prefer are kinda mind stressing which makes it even more attractive.

The voice does sound like an old man telling you some timeless stories on the border of the campfire.

Really nice anyway, is there anything else to dig from the artist ?

Ok i thought this was the Sun Awakens album, which im listening to.

Sun awakens is a piece of art that is more than just relaxing. Reminds me a lot of Mike Oldfield atmospherique prog. This Message Edited On 08.21.06

The crackling in "The Six Stations" can get a little annoying.
