Review Summary: Simply an incredible punk album, from start to finish. I would recommend this to any fan of rock music.
Seaweed is a hidden gem of the early 90's Northwest scene. Their music is a mix of grunge and pop punk, and it works really well. You can tell these guys had great chemistry together.
This album wastes no time, almost all of the songs are under 3 minutes. Most songs will have quick intro-buildup and then they jump straight into it. Every song on here has strong melodies, and they are played very confidently. The drumming is great and manages the ups and downs of the music very well. The lead singer has a unique style and a powerful voice that takes front row in the mix.
The thing that will stick with you about this album is just how damn fun it is. The drums and guitars work together to create very headbang-y melodic riffs. They move from section to section quickly, leaving no time to get bored. Give it a few listens and you won't be able to help singing along and dancing.
The production on the album is not the greatest, probably the worst out of all their LPs. However it fits the music and definitely adds a 'grunge' vibe to it. The music is so strong that it's not really an issue either way.
At only 30 minutes in length, I would recommend just playing it straight through. But if you don't have that much time, I would recommend checking out these tracks:
Recall
The Way It Ends
Taxing
New Tools
