Review Summary: Not new but not bad either..
Before The Dawn is a Melodic Death Metal band from Nastola/Finland, they started playing in 1999. after 2 powerfull albums (My Darkness and 4:17 am) they release The Ghost.

As soon as the first song starts you will realize that the band still has a strong melodic feel to theyr music, the instrumentalization is top notch, production is very good as well as the sound is crisp and clear and the vocals are amazing as allways, not that i think Tuomas Saukkonen has the best harsh vocals around, but he sure gets the right feeling to the music. The transition from Harsh vocals to the Clean parts is also well done, without sounding metalcorish, and keeping the catchy factor which is outstanding. The guitars strike with amazing but familiar riffs, the bass is just right, not overshadowing the good guitar work and not being inaudible either, same could be sayd about the drumming and keyboards. And a good feeling that none of the instruments really stands out so the band itself can standout as a whole, blending the sound together real nice, creating good melodic moments and great catchy choruses as well.
However, such a good album has also its downfalls. No matter how good it sounds, the Ghost is not an original album and it doesnt had much to the Melodic Death Metal genre itself, the riffs are familiar, song structures and build-ups as well, some may find it repetitive and boring after a few listens. It is a good listen anyways, for newcomers in the genre id highly recomend this album as it is, even with its flaws, a good and fun listen overall.
