Treacy said this was meant to be more like the first few albums in spirit and it's clearly true. What a great album. Easily their best since the debut and I'm sad it took me so long to check this. Weird, off-hand comparison, but this is like the Beach Boys' Love You. Nasty production with fart-y synths, but a clear improvement from their previous work because/in spite of it.
