3.5 great | Project | June 22nd 22 | Heavy Heart, Mulholland Dr. and Wretched are a fantastic opening trio. But the album seems to run out of energy halfway through, and while the slower songs are still well-crafted, the ordering leaves a lot to be desired.

0.0 | Slex | June 17th 22 | Less revelatory and confrontational than the
debut but no less brilliant, this is a more
cohesive, melodic and melancholic take. There
is a surprising amount of folky sounds and
pronounced D'Angelo influence, all buttressed
by truly exceptional guitarwork. Lyrics are
wry, memorable and moving, guy is a hell of a
versatile singer. Bartees Strange is here to
stay and is cemented as a standout artist
pushing the genre in new directions

2.5 average | DadEsquire | September 21st 23 | this album wasn't the leap forward i was hoping/expecting from him. i'm hopeful that LP3 will deliver on the potential of LP1. "cosigns" is one of the worst songs i heard in 2022 and it was single they dropped when the album was announced. why.

3.0 good | Gene Gol CONTRIBUTOR | August 6th 22 | Bartees forgoes any notion of experiments or hip-hop influences for a straightforward, mildly fuzzy indie album, with mixed results.

3.0 good | ajcollins15 | June 23rd 22 | For such a simple indie album from a previous indie hip hop artist, this more singer/songwriter direction is an interesting direction for Mr. Strange to go down and I am all for it, although a lot more progress has to be made to help him to stand out from various other artists in the exact same lane, especially artists like Frank Ocean and Kevin Abstract, even though they are not exactly in the same artistic lane.
