I only 5'd it because everyoen else 1'd it lololol
I should have taken the hint. I really should have.
Exoskeleton's "Plutonian Herd" has the distinct honour of being one of, if not the most, terrible albums I've ever listened to- and I've heard DoomThrone, Grumblecunt, and brokeNcyde. Every song on here makes you feel as though you're sitting in a torture chamber. The guitars have been given the worst sound humanly possible, with a tone so grating it feels as though they're drilling into your eardrums. It also doesn't help that they are out of tune for nearly the whole album- it sounds as though they are retuning during the songs at points. The drumming is incredibly basic throughout, mostly sticking to crash + snare beats for the entire record. I'm not even sure if there's a bassist in the band, but if there is one, you can't hear him anyway. And the vocals... oh lord... don't even get me started on the vocals.
Another big problem with this disc is the fact that all of the songs sound almost exactly the same. They are all in the same key signature, and while the speed varies mildly from track-to-track, it isn't enough to stop the whole album from running together in one giant mess. I said I wouldn't get started on the vocals, but as I sit here listening to them, I can't not say anything. Hilarious, frightening, but mostly hilarious, the vocalist here sounds like he had no idea what was going on while this was being recorded. He jumps in at totally random and inappropriate times throughout, and when he does, you'll wish he'd just stayed home. Just terrible, his "screams" completely overpower the music behind them, and since it sounds like he's either dying or is half-frog, that's not a good thing.
I don't know much about this band, but I do know that, if this is any indication, they should just quit making music forever. This is truly one of the most excruciating albums I've ever listened too. The awful guitar sound, truly bewildering vocals, and... well, really, everything about this, is just terrible. Don't be like me. Trust those who have endured this agony. Don't listen to "Plutonian Herd," unless you want to make your eardrums bleed. In which case, I suggest turning it up to full volume and using headphones.
