Similar to all of BCC albums, V is another grower. During the first hearing it sounds fine, but with each listening becomes better and better. The supergroup appears once again tight and solid, with Glenn Hughes (bass, vocals) spearheading this hard rock force. Jason Bonham attacks with some powerful triplets reminding his late, colossal father while Joe Bonamassa is able to deliver a hard rock riff with the same convincing way as an emotional one. Sherinian's input is once again massive as his Hammond organ lifts almost every track, whether by soloing, or supporting a guitar riff or even adding simple background tones. The opener 'Enlighten' enters so furiously that grabs you by rhe hair, before a frighfully funky, hard rock 'Stay Free' with a trampled-underfoot groove makes way for the bombastic and crunchy 'Red Sun', completing this way a trio of convincing tracks. 'Restless' is where Bonamassa's emotional guitar licks support Hughes' soulful vocals in a passionate performance while 'Letting Go' is probably Sherinian's best moment. Recommendations: "Love and Faith", "Stay Free", "Red Sun", "Skyway".
