Before they became the electro-industrial/EBM giants they're known as today, Nivek Ogre and cEvin Key were just beginning to experiment with the idea of making electronic music with a more raw, industrialized sound, rather than the synthpop stylings of Key's first group Images In Vogue. What they came up with on this EP, of which only thirty-five copies were made, is just that. At its very core, it's synthpop, but it definitely has a more lo-fi sound and a rawer edge to it than usual. The quality is pretty shoddy, but on tracks like "Sleeping Beast" and "Dead Of Winter", discernible and catchy melodies strike through. It was definitely an important step to take for Skinny Puppy, so any fan of the band should try this EP, as well as fans of industrial music altogether. It might not sound that great, but it's a piece of history.
