Michael Hedges did to the acoustic guitar what Miles Davis did for jazz, Hendrix did for rock and basically what the computer has done to all our lives. It is sincerely one of those rare (but you hear all the time) cases of how one person can change the face of music, in this instance the acoustic guitar. Hedges was a genius who played the guitar like he had eight hands.rBreakfast In The Field was his first release, having recorded and demo'd and played live for a few years. This is the sound of a man perfecting his craft. How to make the guitar not sound like the guitar every expects to hear. Make it sound like a piano, make it a percussion instrument, make it sound different but inventing new tunings but don't make it sound just like an acoustic guitar. Although there is much better to follow, Breakfast In The Field has some beautiful moments (The Happy Couple, Breakfast in The Field, Lenono). If you play guitar, you may despair of your playing after you hear this.
