Review Summary: Get ready to have your brain polluted, Future.Trash blows the hinges of the doors to mathy hardcore.
Pollution People (formerly Duck Duck Goose) are a thrash/metal/mathcore band out of Barstow, CA. They changed their name and left their label after running into some legal issues concerning their name. You might recognize the new name as it was also the name of the final track of Duck Duck Goose's album Off Yourself.
Future.Trash is a short but awesome sample of what this band has to offer. It's a living, breathing, audio representation of the phrase "quality over quantity". Every track pack its own little punch and also expands on what Duck Duck Goose was able to accomplish best: crazy, nonsensical, and frantic noise (noise and more noise). The expansion is found in the band's newfound taste for melodies and vocal hooks. David Ribera's clean vocals shine through and are just as memorable as his bloodcurdling shrieks and lower growls. Ribera's vocals absolutely astound on the EP's final track "Amputee" and the hook in the latter minutes of "Panic Hands".
Don't be fooled though, these tracks will get angry and brutal and certainly not for the feint of heart. Think a mix of Converge, The Fall of Troy, and even some Circa Survive in the band's softer moments. Absurd, I know but it's absurdity at its finest.
My only complaint with the album is that it's too damn short! It's to be expected with an EP, but it only left me wanting more! From bizarre time signatures, to straight forward punchy guitar riffs, this album will absolutely have something for everyone that is into any type of abrasive music. And you can even show "Amputee" to your girlfriend!
