Sanctus Real's new album 'The Face of Love' can be descibed as a beautiful, quiet, sensitive alternative rock album that takes listeners out of the chaos of life and places them in a calm and peaceful bliss. The lyrics on this album are statements on the state of the world and humanity. However they are not depressing or angry; instead Sanctus Real have made the songs upbeat and they challenge and encourage the world to do better.
The first song (and current single) is "I'm Not Alright" which is fairly thought provoking but really just a bit of the same stuff we've all heard before. The next track "Eloquent", continues the theme of changing humanity and it's perspectives, it also throws in some not so creative rhymes, refering to king kong and an elephant which are pretty lame to be frank.
"Fly" and the title track "The Face of Love" are both calm, upbeat tracks that let the listener mabey do housework to. Following these two tracks is probably the best song on the album "Don't Give Up", Which continues the same old message of changing the world but has better lyrical lines and guitar orientated tempo changes. The last group of tracks are very poetic and the final track "Benjamin", which appears to be a n elegy to a lost friend and bassically sums up the album.
This is probably the bands best record to date, it has rhymes similar to Rapture Ruckus, the song writing skills of Mumsdollar and the finishing polish of Mozelee all mixed into a modern rock album. Not probably your favourite album of all time (cough) but generally a solid rock album similar to the likes of Switchfoot or Powderfinger, mabey something to buy your girlfriend to listen to that you can also enjoy somewhat.
