Akimbo

Blasting their way out of the Northwest, the Seattle hardcore trio Akimbo have been touring the country relentlessly and leaving a path of destruction in their wake, since the band's inception in the late '90s. The band is comprised of Jared Burke Eglington (guitar), Jon Weisnewski (bass, vocals), and Nat Damm (drums). The band credits the thunderous intensity and sonic explosion of its music to influences ranging from the classic rock of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin to the attitudes of Black Flag and the Melvins. Up to 2006, Akimbo had four releases under their belt: the Army of Evil Robots Programmed for Human Destruction 7", Harshing Your Mellow, City of the Stars, and Elephantine. Having worked with various labels over the years (Rock and Roleplay Records, Dopamine/Amalagate Records, and Seventh Rule), early 2006 found the ruthless, hardworking band issuing its fifth album, Forging Steel and Laying Stone, on Alternative Tentacles. With their new album out and no signs of slowing, Akimbo finished a tour of Central Europe and planned to leave audiences across America gasping and disoriented with a full show schedule, including a month in support of Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower. « hide
