Black Drawing Chalks is a stoner rock quartet from Goiania.
The idea of forming a band started at the college, while studying graphic design. Victor Rocha and Douglas Castro
(vocal/guitars and drums respectively) are members and owners of a studio called "Bicicleta sem freio" (bike without brakes)
that is also responsible for the band's visual identity and a lot of shows and festivals that happens in Goiania. They decided

Black Drawing Chalks is a stoner rock quartet from Goiania.
The idea of forming a band started at the college, while studying graphic design. Victor Rocha and Douglas Castro
(vocal/guitars and drums respectively) are members and owners of a studio called "Bicicleta sem freio" (bike without brakes)
that is also responsible for the band's visual identity and a lot of shows and festivals that happens in Goiania. They decided
to call Denis de Castro who was an architecture student at the time, to found the Black Drawing Chalks. At the time, Victor
shared the chords and vocals with Marco Bauer. In early 2007, Marco decides to leave the band and Renato Cunha is invited
to join the quartet. The band's name, comes from a German brand of material for design, steady influence in the lives of boys.
In 2007 they released their acclaimed debut album, "Big Deal", by Monstro Discos label. After the album's release, the band
played throughout Brazil. In the same year, they opened for American Idols Nashville Pussy, a tradition that would become
common. The band has played shows alongside names like The Datsuns, Motorhead, Eagles Of Death Metal and Black Label
Society.
In 2009, with more maturity, the group releases their second album, "Life Is a Big Holiday for Us", also by Monstro Discos,
after a tour in Canada, where the band performed at Canadian Music Week festival.
With frequent media exposure, long tours and participation in major festivals in Brazil, the group won three nominations VMB
(Brazilian's VMA) 2009 MTV Bet in Categories, Rock and Alternative Music Video of the year with the music video for "My
Favorite Way", made in a partnership between Bicicleta sem freio and Nitrocorpz studios, responsible for several vignettes on
MTV.
In 2009, the single "My Favorite Way" was chosen by Rolling Stone Brazil, the best song of the year.
In 2010, 4 members joined with Chuck HipĆ³litho, ex-Forgotten Boys and parallel did Bazukas Love.
Also in 2010, attended the first day of the SWU festival, the biggest festival of music and art of the year wich had a platform
about sustainability and care for the environment. The band of Goiania was responsible for opening the stage Air, where they
played Los Hermanos, Infectious Grooves and Rage Against the Machine.
In 2012, with new guitarist Edimar Filho play Lollapalooza (one of the biggest alternative music festivals) on a small stage,
where they played on the same day Arctic Monkeys and Jane's Addiction.
The band performed at the SXSW Music and Film Festival in Austin, Texas in 2013. Louder Than Hell Interview, March 2013.
