Immolation

Immolation is a death metal band, formed in 1986 in Yonkers, NY under the name Rigor Mortis. In 1987 they changed their name to Immolation. They released a series of demos before signing with Roadrunner Records to release their first (and only) album for the label, Dawn of Possession, widely regarded as a classic of the first wave of death metal. They released a series of demos before signing with Roadrunner Records to release their first (and only) album for the label, Dawn of Possession, widely regarded as a classic of the first wave of death metal. It was a more typical death metal album for the time, although extremely technical. After Here in After, which was a far more technical and unconventional album (released in 1996), Craig Smilowski left the band to be replaced by Alex Hernandez, who played on the next three albums: Failures for Gods released in 1999, Close to a World Below (generally considered to be the band's finest work) in 2000 and Unholy Cult in 2002. Steve Shalaty (ex-Odium, ex-Gutted) stepped behind the kit for Harnessing Ruin in 2005 and Shadows in the Light in 2007.The band has released three studio albums since that time: Majesty and Decay in 2010, Kingdom and Conspiracy in 2013 and Atonement in 2017. They are currently signed to the label Nuclear Blast America. The current members of the band are: Ross Dolan - Bass, Vocals; Robert Vigna - Guitar; Steve Schalaty - Drums; and Alex Bouks - Guitar. « hide
